Heyooo! Hello there, people. It's been some time.
I don't have much to say, though! What I'm bringing you today is something small I came up with.
So, a few days ago I got in the mood of programming a simple idea. Basically, a minimalistic text-based 'RPG-like' battle, where you create a character and fight against other (AI) warriors. As simple as that.
So, I started doing it just for the fun of it, and then I realized, "Hey! If I think this is fun, maybe there's somebody else out there who could enjoy it as well", and so I wrapped it up and uploaded it. So, if you think you could enjoy it, go ahead and download it! It's in the Games & Contact section of the blog.

Nightfall's 'Evil Enchantress' Update!
Well hello there! Nice
to talk to you all once again. Guess what? I've been working a little bit more on
Nightfall this last week or so, and I'm glad to bring you guys an
update!
I actually updated the
game a few times since the Sixth Beta Release, but those were small
updates so I didn't announce them or anything.
Some of you realized it though, and downloaded them! Good for you!
But anyway, join me on the magical journey to the changelog, below the break!

Whaa?! Nightfall's Sixth Beta Release!
What is this madness?! Yep, guess what! Nightfall is back!
Good day, guys. How have you been doing? I've been through a lot of stuff lately, actually, but I'm glad to be here one more time. A few weeks ago, I got into the mood of programming a short and simple game-- but I couldn't decide what to do. Many ideas came and went, but I didn't like any of them enough to get to it.
Then Nightfall crossed my mind, and I took some days to think about it. The development of my other project was currently paused for a few reasons, and even though Nightfall is a coding mess, I felt it could be nice to jump on its development once again. I mean, after all the effort I put into it before, anyway~ I thought it would be nice to keep going a little more. Besides, you guys seemed to want more! And so, I got into it. Fun!
Now, that being said, I'm not sure when (or if at all) I'll be working on this again. This was a fun update, but I'm exhausted for now. The project is not 'discontinued' anymore, but I won't guarantee more updates either. We'll see in the future, but for now this will do!

Nightfall's last update
Some bad news for y'all tonight, guys.
Due to a bunch of reasons (being one of them the recent start of another, much bigger project), I'm sorry to say that SMG's Nightfall is, from now on, discontinued.
Now, don't be sad. It was fun while it lasted, and although I've decided to move on, it is not in a bad way. Nightfall was a very interesting project, and I had a lot of fun with it. I really appreciate all the support you guys gave me as well, and I welcome you all to keep playing the game as long as you find it fun; I know I will!
So anyway, I have a small, last update for you guys. It's not much, but it's my way to close this project up, at least for now (after all, who knows what the future may bring, right?). I hope you enjoy it, and my best wishes to you all!

No more pony games from Jach
well then, it's been a while.
honestly over the last year in particular my interest in the show and the MLP fandom as a whole has really burnt out. it was bound to happen eventually.
I haven't been working on any pony games in the slightest since luna's letter, and i'm actually in fact now working on a commercial game. moving up in the world as it seems.
now my main goal is to work on serious games that i can use to (hopefully) get a job in the industry. and of course pony games don't really help much in that respect.
so, long story short, there won't be any more pony fandom games coming from me. now, one important thing to sort out was the game 'No Guns in Canterlot' (the pony FPS game) which seemed to have quite a bit of attention. sadly i just don't have the motivation nor time to finish that game at a satisfactory point. if i was to finish it now, it would only be rushed.
because of this i decided to let someone i know have a go at the game and take over the project. hopefully they can give the game more attention than i could have.
that person is: Dreadmaster231 http://dreadmaster231.deviantart.com/his team is called "Gunny Games Corner" and the game's future is up to him now.
his tumblr can be found here: ggcp-on.tumblr.com/
and now this marks my last connection with any pony games.
one thing i might do though is release all of the source files for every single MLP game i've made.
but that will be at a later date.
so good luck to gunny games, hopefully they do a better job with the game than i did.
if you want to know about the future non-pony games i'm making the keep an eye on my deviantArt: http://jach-marsdonpony.deviantart.com/

Battle Royale: Forward to the Past
Here's a new game, from a not-so-new member.
Battle Royale: Forward to the Past is a 2D physics based deathmatch that currently supports only local multiplayer and singleplayer vs AI, but the next major update, hopefully in a matter of weeks, will add online multiplayer as an option.
Each player has 3 attacks to choose from and the key bindings can be configured in the options screen. Also in the options screen you can switch between multiplayer and singleplayer modes. There's also the "debug" mode, that might help you learn to navigate in space and aim using gravity to your advantage, without worrying about HP and MP.
While FttP is a complete game, with four different endings (namely the 2 multiplayer ends that only show who won, the game over screen, and the victory sequence at the end of the AI mode), it's still a very short game that could use a lot of improvement, so I hope to hear some feedback from you! Should I work on multiplayer, or extend the single player mode? How do you feel about the game's difficulty? I'd love to hear your opinions and suggestions.
The game can be downloaded here:
windows | mac | linux | universal
All versions require Java 1.6 or later.
The universal package is slightly larger and to run it you may need to configure Java to run executable .jar files, but it should work on any desktop system.
Android support might come after online multiplayer is implemented.
This game is a part of My Little Gamedev Marathon. Check out other awesome (and not so awesome) games from this event and the previous one!

High time to introduce myself
Hi everypony!
I'm known as Xinef, and I've been a member of Silly Mare Games for quite a while, mostly giving Night Breeze feedback and suggestions about Nightfall, since I was too busy at that time to work on my own projects.
But now, since my first game, Battle Royale: Forward to the Past, is ready and published, I've decided to introduce myself.
If you are wondering who I am and why does it matter, my results for the Pony Personality Test may give you a hint, what to expect from my games.
I'm a novice indie game developer from Poland, mostly interested in genres such as strategy, RPG and simulation. Right now I'm working on 2D games, but in the future you'll see some 3D games too, since that's my specialty. I also draw a lot of inspiration from older games, since I'm a bit of an old school gamer.
Anyway, when I'm not developing games, I try my hand at 2D/3D art, pencil sketches, or playing tabletop role playing games like Roleplaying is Magic. Or I'm watching ponies. Or listening to symponic metal. Or training ninjitsu with Fluttershy, but more on that later.
Games that I draw inspiration from include Heroes of Might and Magic series (II is my favorite), 4X games, such as Civilization and Master of Magic, the X-Com series, Neverwinter Nights, Diablo 2, Starcraft Broodwar, Fallout 1 & 2, Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital, Stronghold, Tropico, Final Fantasy I through VI and FF Tactics, Settlers (II and III mostly), The Sims, Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress. Also free remakes of some of those games and games inspired by them, such as Freeciv and UFO:AI. As for MMOs the only one that I'm still sometimes playing is Dungeons&Dragons Online.
For now, I'll keep working on Forward to the Past, adding features such as online multiplayer, android support, difficulty levels for AI mode, more ponies to choose from etc. Once FttP is mostly done, I'll return to my older project, a physics based 2D game with Luna trying to navigate through space to get back from the Moon. And once that game is finished too, I think I'll begin work on 3D games with more strategy and RPG elements.
I'll also let you know that I'm not working alone. My team consists of Fluttershy, who is the team leader, myself, the main programmer, and Mruczek (a little tiger), who contributes art whenever we can't find something freely available under a permissive license. I'm always amazed by Fluttershy's freaky knowledge of game development...
She's my source of inspiration and a great team leader. And she looks cute.

You can expect more ninja ponies in the future...
Keep calm and flutter on!

An introduction for Jach
I'm known as Jach Marsdonpone, and I'm a
new member of this group.
I work mainly with 3D games, most recently
in unity. Before that I used the blender game engine.
I've made a few games in the past, some
that people might have heard of being:
-'Luna Wander', the moon simulator staring
Luna.
-'The Unknown', the survival horror in the
land of ice ponies.
-'A world you should not know', the
equestria girls grunge horror.
All of which were made in the BGE, but ive
now moved on to use unity3D and the c# language.
In terms of myself, I mainly like
programming, art and the cartoons MLP-FIM (well of course) and Ruby Gloom. As
well as game developing, I do a bit of digital art, although I'm very, very new
to that and need some real practice. For the record, my favourite video game of
all time is Red dead redemption, followed by a large gap, then fallout 3, borderlands
and bioshock.
At the moment I've got several games I'm
working on:
-No guns in canterlot, the pony FPS,
the BIG one that seems to have the most attention.
-Luna's letter, which is for the MLGD
marathon, and is in fact finished, just not yet released.
-Pegasus velocity, a roll-around 3D
platformer staring derpy in a bubble.
Soon enough I'll sort out some links in
the 'games' section of the blog for my past games, and there I'll try to post
about progress as often as possible, which actually won't be very often...
Anyway, that seems to be all, I'll try to
sort out some more information in the next few days!
-Jach

Stun bug fix
Hi there!
So, as some of you pointed out, there was a very big bug regarding the new Stun feature. If you got killed when there were enemies near the spawn point, they'd stun you instantly and keep killing you until you ran out of lives.
I seriously don't know how I didn't see that problem before, and I apologize. Shame on me!
Luckily, I made a few tweaks and the problem was gone: I added temporary invulnerability and invincibility after losing a life, so I encourage y'all to download this little update.
Thank you guys for all the support, and again, I apologize for the problems.
Have a nice day!

Howdy y'all!
Man, this took WAY longer than I expected, but it was worth it. I have a lot of new stuff for y'all here. By far, this is the biggest update so far.

Little updates!
Hey guys! What's up?
Quick update here, I just wanted to let you know I'm not dead, nor is the Nightfall project. I'm just going through some pretty heavy times in college, so I haven't got much time to work on other stuff (and programming a game takes a heck of a lot of time!). Besides, there's A LOT to do with Nightfall, since there are a huge lot of changes planned for the game.
Anyway, I got some time today and worked a little more on the game. I'll probably be working some more around the next few weeks.
Just a heads up for you all, guys!
Be sure to stay around, and see you later.
Cheers!

Game Release: Drifter!
Hello there, folks!
Well, this here is not actually a SMG's game, but I was part of the development team on it and I'd love to share this with you all, guys! I was, actually, majorly just in charge of the map design, though. Those guys did pretty much all the heavy lifting there!
But anyway, I'm glad to share with you Drifter, "a sequel to Stroll and Derpy Buddy". I really hope you guys find it interesting, and I encourage you to go and check it out!
Here's the EQD post, with download links and more information: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2013/08/game-drifter.html
And thanks a lot for your time, folks!
